How to Check a KDP Interior PDF for Page Size and Trim

1. Separate the interior from the cover

A KDP paperback normally uses a manuscript interior file and a separate full-wrap cover file. The free checker reads interior PDFs. Keep your cover PDF separate and check it with the KDP Cover Calculator or template for your chosen binding, paper, trim size, and page count.

2. Choose the interior PDF

Open the free KDP paperback interior PDF checker and select one or more PDFs. The tool reads them in your browser; it does not upload the files to KDP Maker.

3. Read the automated results

• Page-size consistency: every page is compared with the first page.
• Likely trim match: the first page is compared with common KDP trim dimensions, with or without common interior bleed.
• Page count: the tool reports the file count and flags values outside broad paperback bounds. KDP limits vary with trim size, ink, and paper.
• Odd page counts: KDP says it rounds paperback manuscript page counts up to an even number. Review the final blank page and pagination in Previewer.

4. Finish the checks in KDP

A matching page size cannot confirm that artwork actually reaches the bleed area or that content stays inside the safe margins. Check margins and gutter, image resolution, embedded fonts, page order, blank pages, and the full cover. Upload the files to KDP Print Previewer and fix every issue it reports before publishing.
