What fixed layout means

A fixed-layout eBook keeps content arranged on designed pages instead of flowing text into a new layout. KDP Maker's Kindle export is a fixed-layout EPUB with a separate cover image. That makes page-by-page review important, especially when a design includes detailed illustrations or small text.

Review the reading experience

Check that page text is legible at a typical reading size and is not positioned too close to the edge.
Inspect illustrations for cropping, low contrast, or details that become difficult to see on smaller screens.
Move through the complete book and confirm that page order, orientation, and transitions make sense.
Check the table of contents and opening pages where those elements are included.
Review the separate cover image at thumbnail size as well as full size.

Keep the digital edition distinct from print

A Kindle package is not a substitute for paperback or hardcover files. Print editions require their own interior and cover PDFs, print dimensions, and binding-specific checks. Open and review the exported files with an appropriate preview workflow, correct any issues you find, and make the final submission through your own KDP account.
